For the Reading Workshop, we had to write a poem about what Lara Phelps would say if she came to our school and someone did something mean to her.  We had to make sure the poem had a lesson in it or a bit of kindly advice is given.

Laurelville is pretty old,
but that doesn’t mean we fold.
We never ask why,
and we never deny.
We always look up
and sometimes we hiccup.
If we lose,
we do not get the blues.
